Fair Access Fund: Travel Grants and Student Grants

The WebSci’24 organizing committee wants to help ensure broad participation in the conference and has set up a WebSci’24 Fair Access Fund (FAF) sponsored by SIGWEB and Web4Good.

Travel Grants and Student Grants provide support for students, early career scholars, and other presenters who have an accepted paper at the WebSci’24 conference. The funds will be distributed based on the needs of participants; priority goes to those with accepted papers from underrepresented regions (countries designated by ACM as economically developing, including Chile, Panama, and Uruguay). If scholarship applications exceed available funds, preference will be given to presenters planning to attend the whole Web Science Conference.

To apply for the FAF Travel Grants or Student Grants:

Submit the following by email to websci24-faf@iris.uni-stuttgart.de no later than March 31, 2024:

  • A short statement (1-2 paragraphs) explaining your interest in participating in the WebSci’24.
  • Evidence of your connection to a university or research laboratory. This evidence can be a link to one or more institutional web pages or a brief letter or email (attached as a PDF) from a supervisor or advising professor.
  • Detailed cost plan for travel to WebSci’24 (Screenshot of offers or small table listing costs for travel by plane, train, etc.)
  • Please include the label [FAF WEBSCI 2024] in the subject of your email.

Notifications of the type of support will be sent by April 5, 2024, with details about the next steps and the refund process.
